I see it as incredibly important to have a strong understanding of a topic that I am very likely to cover later in my career. In today's journalism environment, having a background in a topic paves the way for a successful career and a passionate one as well. I am incredibly interested in issues of gender equality and equity as well as the topics of public health, civil rights and public policy. These topics all connect and therefore I am preparing myself for my career ahead.

Cardinal Points is currently Plattsburgh State's independent student newspaper. Articles range from news, sports, opinions and arts and entertainment.
Since my freshman year of college, I have been involved with the SUNY Plattsburgh Association of Black Journalists, a collegiate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. I was motivated to join to not only connect with people going down a similar career path as myself but to learn and grow during my four years in college.
I have held the positions of secretary and vice president and am currently the chapter president as of May 2018.
